Total sales exceed the 100 million mark for the first time. After 51 years with Brütsch/Rüegger, Margrit Rüegger retires from her position on the Board of Management.

1988

Brütsch Rüegger’s 111th anniversary Building approval is granted for the tools centre in Urdorf.

1987

Purchase of a 6851 m2 large piece of land in Urdorf, with good transport connections.

1986

The Company Management consists of Julius Rüegger and Edwin Baumgartner, who have been delegated by the Board of Management, and the Directors Kurt Brunschweiler and Bruno Eichholzer. Brütsch/Rüegger AG enjoys a successful second financial year. The tools division has a successful year of business behind it. There is a lack of space in its premises in Rautistrasse. The search for a new home for the tools division is proving extremely difficult, due to the shortage of land in the Zurich urban area.

1985

Company changes its legal from a general partnership to a share corporation. The former partners take their places on the Board of Management. Introduction of IT into the tools division.

1981

Employees are named as directors for the first time in the company's history. Kurt Brunschweiler becomes Director with responsibility for the tools division, while Bruno Eichholzer is his counterpart in the steel tubes division.

1978

For the first time in the company's history, turnover resulting from sales of tools exceeds that resulting from sales of steel tubes.

1977

Brütsch Rüegger’s 100th anniversary. Amalgamation of the offices and warehouse of the tools division in Rautistrasse to the facilities in the Albisrieden area of Zurich.

1976

Julius Rüegger hands over responsibility for management of the steel tubes division to Bruno Eichholzer.

Edwin Baumgartner-Brütsch becomes a partner. He takes over responsibility for finances from Margrit Rüegger. The effects of the global recession are felt by Brütsch/Rüegger + Co. Thanks to its canny entrepreneurial expertise, founded on solid company principles, even in the times of a booming economy, Brütsch/Rüegger + Co. is able to adjust to the new situation without staff hardships.

1972

The lack of space in the offices in Löwenstrasse 53/Gessneralle 36 is ever more pressing. A modern office block is built as the company headquarters at Limmatstrasse 48/50, in place of the old property. Felix Rüegger hands over responsibility for management of the tools division to Kurt Brunschweiler.
